in reverie yeah yeah, i know it's 3 in the morning, but after not being able to sleep for a while, i began talking to one of the most inspirational people, who happens to be sleeping next to me... we were discussing what we had on our minds, and i had this barbershop song stuck in my head. (what else is new) it's from this new movie he bought (Cry Baby) which I've seen, but he hasn't. the song is also in the movie Clue...
catchy little number called "Sh-Boom (Life Could Be A Dream)" and we both started singing it. i'd like to do that song with the quartet (if either seth or dave has it, ahem ahem) but he told me that he enjoys things 40's or stuff from way-back-when, and i was like, "HOLY CRAP, do you like barbershop???" and he proceeded to inform me that he'd never really heard it before
of course, i'm wide awake at this point and i rush to my computer to get to the SPEBSQSA jukebox, where i play him all my favorites.
he fell asleep to "Beautiful Dreamer."
and i can't help but smile.

life could be a dream
Funny story about that song. One time I had this song stuck in my head, but I couldn't think of any of the lyrics, just one little motive in the tune. I also couldn't remember where or why I'd heard it. Later that same day I watched Clue with Dan Cormier, and heard that song. It immediately jolted my memory, it not only was the song I had been singing all day for no reason at all, but I realized I knew it because I have a recording of my MOM singing it in 1977 with this group she was in at the time. I like to think it was Mommy saying hello to me.
